Books To Enjoy Mid-Summer

The last group of book reviews I did for The Advice Sisters was on the old, Advice Sisters Blog. But now that the Advice Sisters Web Site and Book are one, it’s time for a new group of Book reviews. Here is another book you might enjoy, mid-Summer!

Book title: What Now

The swallows, it is said, always return to their home in San Juan Capistrano, CA. but Patty Bialak, the author of What Now? A Memoir of Self-Realization, (I-Universe, 2011) is an adventurer who went march farther than her San Jan Capitrano home.  Her troubled youth (complete with mentally ill sister) and disfunctional family life (she roamed the streets alone when she was just a little girl), led her to a journey of self-discovery that ook her literally, around the world. She ventured out to sea, and even spent ten years traveling in an RV with her two cats. Not that many women have that much guts. As with many self-published books, the story is a fascinating, valid in it’s own right, even if the telling of it is sometimes, awkward. While I didn’t particularly like the writing, I did find Patty’s life, if it is even half true, stranger than fiction, and much more exciting. This woman’s journey to learn who she really is and what she really wanted from life, was hard fought. Many readers of her book, however, would wish for a life even a little bit as fascinating and exciting as Patty’s. You won’t fall asleep reading this one!
