While models may be sashaying down the runway this week for Mercedes Benz Fashion Week, wearing designer gowns, the challenge for many people in today’s economy is to find clothing that is trendy, but also affordable. Byer California is an apparel company sold exclusively in Macy’s, Kohl’s and JC Penneys (as Byer California/B WEAR, IZBYER and BCX). Founded in 1964, Byer California, is a family-owned San Francisco, known for bringing trendy clothing including pants, sweaters,skirts, jackets, dresses, coats and blouses, to the marketplace at affordable prices. You may not have heard of Byer, but if you have bought clothes in Macy’s, Kohl’s or JC Penneys, the chances are that you have worn their products.
While I’m looking at plenty of designer items this week, I also thought that it would be a good idea to also check out something that every woman can afford. So I checked out B-Wear, the junior collection of clothing for JC Penny. This collection is made in heaven for young women who want on-trend clothing, but aren’t ready or able to start building a wardrobe of investment pieces. This consumer just wants good looking, chic things that will make them feel happy, without totally dessimating their budget. The B-Wear collection is full of cute pieces that juniors are going to love. For moms that need to outfit teens on a budget, JC Penny one of those places you can shop, and your teens won’t feel embarassed. Consider too, that it really doesn’t matter what shopping bag you bring your clothes home in, because once something chic is on your body, no one is going to know where you got it or how much you paid–they’ll just know you look good.
A quick look at the JC Penney website shows that tops, for example, are under $30.00, with some under $15.00. Even a nice blazer was just $29.99.
Here’s an example of a trendy top that a woman of any any can love. Animal prints are hot for Fall, and I can see from holiday previews that they’re going to be even more popular for Winter/Holiday. Following the animal print trend, this top, with a gathered waistband and flirty shoulder bow, is a great buy. It will work now when the weather is warm, but you still want something a little more “back to school/work” instead of Summer brights and pastels. It will still be great under a jacket or sweater and velvet or silk pants for a party, when Winter, and the holiday season, arrives. Pair it with a business suit to add some pizazz. The top has nice details, such as a three button closure at the back, and satin piping The top is 100% polyester but it feels soft and silky, and it is machine washable. It’s just $44.00 and will be available in just a few weeks, at the end of September (9/20/11).

I’m not going to lie and say that the top has the same quality or designer details as a couture top, but then again, it costs less than dinner with a glass of wine! For items that you know probably will be stowed in the back of the closet in a season when the trend, ends, cheaper is usually the best way to get the trend and not feel bad when you no longer want to wear it.
