First impressions can be deceiving, but they are also very lasting. Although I have only been to a couple of shows at the Lincoln Center tents for Fashion Week, there are many days left before the final model turns towards the backstage, the designer waves or bows, and Fashion Week ends for another season.

Nude, graceful, flowing and sheer on Tadashi Shoji runway = sexy for Spring 2012
COLOR and color blocking are the two trends that are already obvious. Sexy is all about sheer and flowing fabrics, not necessarily nearly-bare. What you don’t show is mysterious, as you can see from Tadashi Shoji’s half sheer, flowy, evening wear, much of it in a fleshy nude color.
Casual wear is always shown more for Spring than at the Winter runway shows, and both men and women’s wear has a casual, roomy, comfy look to it.

According to celebrity hair stylist Patrick Melville, hair will be sleeker, with less texture. Topknots took the place of chignons, ponytails and half up-down styles more than last season’s braids and loose waves. Makeup is all about color. Not just any color but bold and playful color. Purple and blue lips at Richard Chai, and orange and pink eye shadows may not be for the shy, but on the models it looked fresh and interesting and yes, even beautiful.
