Although most people are attending shows at the tents in Lincoln Center during Fashion Week, there is a lot more to see and do. This is particularly true if you’re a member of the press. All week long there have been good shows downtown, and around town. All week long, there have been “lounges” where editors can meet vendors and designers, and get an up close and personal look at what they’re offering.

lounges make life a little easier for editors who are often waiting in long lines for shows, and here, to pick up press credentials
Today, I had planned a full day at the tents, after a welcome Beauty breakfast with Allure Magazine, CVS and Maybelline. It was exciting, because I got to meet Allure’s Beauty Director Amy Keller Laird & Heather Muir, Allure’s Beauty News Editor. I also got a chanche to watch one of my favorite makeup artists, Maybelline makeup artist Gabriel Almodovar, demonstrate three hot trends right off the runway: bold lips, strong brows, bronzed urban goddess. I raced out, actually, because I had planned to cover some shows in the American Express Skybox. Alas, the planets were not aligned, and I found myself with plenty of time to figure out what I could and should do, at “leisure” from the Fashion Week tents.
The logical thing to do was to visit some of the lounges nearby. And, by the time I found good friends doing the same thing, and had a quick lunch at one of the lounges, and had lugged a heavy bag of products and press information around, I went home for the day.
Here are some of the things I’ve found in the past couple of days that I think you might find interesting, too!
Why wear just any boots when you can wear Kiboots, these are leather boots with one-of-a-kind inserts of genuine, Kilim rugs. The patterns and colors vary. These are the creation of Jovanna Kruitbosch and Martijn Lugtigheid. #kiboots have “hippie” roots, but they’re 100% fashion forward. These boots are beautifuly made. They’re statement dressing for your feet! What I love so much about these boots is that you won’t see them on everyone–they’re unique!
The holidays are coming. Time to dress up! Well, actually….anytime is a good time to add an armful of glittery bangles, like these from Saachi In-Things. Oprah Magazine, apparently, liked some in a rounded Marquis shape, just $39.00. But one large bangle is a statement you can afford to make! These would make great gifts, too, Visit inthingscorp.com The website also shows beautiful scarves, and an insanely comfortable but still chic, decorated mule (hope to be reviewing these in the not too distant future).
That’s me, holding up one of three @arbonne new fragrances that just launched at Fashion Week: I have The Dreamer (there is also The Dazzler and The Dynamo). All three feature a perfume topper that can be used as a shelf sitting “doll.” They are too cute! The fragrances are light and user-friendly. You can get them now (great for holiday gift giving) from October-December 2011. Each fragrance is 1.7 fl. oz. and retails for $78, or $198 for the trio. Pre-orders will be accepted. FYI: Arbonne’s new fragrances are formulated without gluten, dermatologist tested and safe for most skin types. All Arbonne® products can be purchased through Arbonne’s extensive network of Independent Consultants, or online at http://www.arbonne.com.
The Dreamer: A crisp, fresh top note of Fuji apple, Yuzu Zest and Pomegranate evolves to reveal a vivacious middle note accord of Cedarwood, Balsa Wood and White Cyclamen. The intoxicating base note, with Baltic Amber and Australian Sandalwood add warmth and depth to this fragrance that captures the thoughtful, harmonious nature and pure beauty of the Dreamer. *this fragrance was very light and easy to wear and would be good for a young woman, or a more mature one.
The Dazzler: The top note of Bergamot and Green Bamboo opens up to a floral, sweet and heady middle note of Ylang Ylang, Jasmine Blossom and Chinese Peony. A lasting impression is made with Australian Sandalwood, Patchouli and the Far East’s legendary scent of Amber adding a hint of spice. This blend embodies the mesmerizing power of the Dazzler.
The Dynamo: Frosted Pink Grapefruit, White Cardamon and Valencia Orange create a spicy, fresh, and sparkling opening to this dynamic fragrance with a heart of the sultry and exotic Night Blooming Jasmine, classic Rose De Mai and fresh White Muguet. Bottom notes of Golden Amber, Violet Petals, Vanilla Crème and Australian Sandalwood, adds a deep richness that celebrates the trail-blazing spirit and vibrant essence of the Dynamo.
All Summer long I’ve gone bare-legged, but the cooler weather is coming. One consolation for having to wear shoes and boots again, is a reason to buy some really cool leg wear, like these silky tights from HANES in color, and in patterns. You can “like” Hanes Hoisery on Facebook, and also follow them on Twitter . And, of course, you can buy these in your favorite store! These tights were being shown at stylist Robert Verdi’s Luxe Lab.
So many celebrities wear jewelry from Lia Sophia but this was the first time I got a chance to see pieces up close and personal. There were so many gorgeous things to oogle. My favorite is the bracelet on the left. I wore it home and a stranger stopped me on the train to comment. I told him that it was Lia Sophia and he wrote the name down. You can follow them on twitter @lia_sophia. The jewelry is beautifully crafted, and SO eye-catching. While the big cuff bracelets wowed me to no end, the prices are within the realm of reason for statement jewelry. GET SOME and your holidays will be merry and very, very bright.
There’s plenty of pampering, too. For example, at various lounges around town, I spied Maybelline, Artistry, and Hard Candy (and that’s just for starters). This wall of “goodies” features some of Hard Candy’s newest products for now and the holidays.
There is so much more to review and comment on, but the day is getting “old” and I”m getting tired. Please leave yo
