Lip pencils have been around for a long time, but really good ones, are rare. Clinique, one of The Advice Sisters never-fail favorite brands, has eight new colors of a chubby lip pencil that they call a Moisturizing Lip Colour Balm ($16.00). It is light on your luggage, handbag and lips. All you have to do is lift the cap, twist the silver bottom of the stick, and up pops some product. You can twist it back down when you’re done, too. No pencil sharpener needed!
But convenience isn’t the only reason to like these oversized, lip-loving colour sticks. They’re full of moisturizing goodness thanks to a nourishing blend of butters, oils, and antioxidants that keep lips hydrated, protected, and youthful. Shea butter, mango seed butter, and jojoba seed oil are the stars that help make even sun-parched lips look acceptable. Of course, since they’re by Clinique, they’re also 100% fragrance fre and allergy tested.
But the boon to lips doesn’t end with the ingredients. The colors are really pretty. They’re sheer, and enhance lips in a soft, sexy way. The eight original colors seem to be a bit deeper and more intense, but the 8 new shades offer something for everyone to love, as well. Most of the shades fall between the look of a semi-sheer lip gloss, and a sheer gloss, but they’re not overly sticky or shiny. The colors range from nude to cherry red, but they’re natural and universally flattering. And, even better, they’re remarkably long wearing, remarkable for a product that is so moist. The new colors are: Heaping Hazelnut, Oversized Orange, Curvy Candy, Mighty Mimosa, Voluptuous Violet, Pudgey Peony, Bountiful Blush and Two Ton Tomato. You can see all the colors in the photo, below. Whether you’re into pink or red, or perhaps a trendy orange, you’ll be happy to slick on one of these moisturizing colors. But if you like earthy, mauve-ish or nude tones, you’ll find a whole spectrum of those to choose from as well. Like a sheer mineral makeup, the colors are “forgiving” so you can’t really get a wrong one!
