No matter how many fashion week seasons roll by, or how many views of backstage beauty I’ve witnessed, it’s especially exciting to report on NARS Cosmetics. Their fashion-forward (but user-friendly) makeup has a range of colors that’s hard to beat. When their creative team designs a look for the runway, it is bound to be exceptional!
For Naeem Kahn’s Fall 2012 runway show at the Lincoln Center tents, lead artist and NARS Director of Globral Artisty, James Boehmer, created a fresh take on precisely drawn, dramatic eye liner.
There wasn’t a lot of color in Naeem Kahn’s elegant collection, but there was a lot of evening glamour. According to the designer: “Italian actress Monica Vitti inspired me…I wanted to do a collection that referenced Italy in the 1960s…a beautiful time.”
The strong eye liner is a look you can do at home, as long as you have a steady hand. Boehmer used a brand new NARS eye liner that will be out in the Fall called Carpates Eyeliner Stylo and Larger Than Life Lengthening Mascara . “The look is all about the precision, sharpness, and blackness of the line,” said James Boehmer, NARS Director of Global Artistry. “Everything else has that ‘barely there’ feeling. The eye line has to be really sharp and pointed up towards the temple – it’s not a cat eye, and it’s not a wide eye. It draws the eyes up.”
Other key NARS products in the look included: Pure Radiant Tinted Moisturizer SPF30/PA+++ ; Concealer ; · Loose Powder and Sex Appeal Blush for the face, and a new More Velvet Matte Lip Pencil (a moist peachy tint) and Triple X Lip Gloss for the lips. If you want to purchase these products for yourself, they are availabe (except for the eyeliner stylo) at www.narscosmetics.com and at NARS boutiques.
Meanwhile, models were getting their nails painted with a blood red called, appropriately, “Bloodline.” At Naeem Khan, Creative Nail Design’s Angi Wingle created a pure blood-red nail with CND Colour in Bloodline. This seductive manicure popped against the black, white, cream, and gold color scheme in the collection
