A Luxury Facial Toner from EMK Placental

EMK Placental's Wrinkle Relaxing Toner

What is a toner?  For many, it’s just one of those mystifying steps that they feel they can skip — just one more thing skin care companies add to a basic skin care routine that adds clutter to the bathroom shelf.  But skin toners, that come in many different forms, are an important step in a thorough skin care routine. A toner removes the extra oils and debris that even a good cleanser can’t get to, and it prepares the skin to better accept and absorb serums, moisturizers, and foundation.

There’s a new and very special toner I have recently discovered from  a luxury skincare line I really love: EMK Placental.  Wrinkle Relaxing Toner ($44.00 6.6 fl. oz.).  EMK  Placental fans include Madonna, Eva Longoria, Diahann Carroll, Arianna  Huffington, Simon Cowell and I have to admit, me.  The EMK Placental Wrinkle Relaxing Toner does even more than cleanse and make skin ready for more.  This high tech toner is infused with potent skin firming and repairing botanicals that are supposed to give an instant tightening sensation and visibly firm slack, aging skin.It is good for all skin types and it is hypoallergenic,  but is especially beneficial for  sun-damaged skin, aged, dry skin, and skin that has lost its firmness.

Really? It sounds too good to be true, but let’s see what’s in it and how it works:  For starters, all of EMK Placental’s products have something unique:  a patented, botanically derived bio-identical plant placental extract that the company says is virtually identical to human placental extract (before you freak out, remember it is plant based, and not from humans).  The product formula supposedly mimics the way your skin cells work. This toner has potent repairing botanicals, amino acids and natural geranium essential oil that smells nice and helps boost skin circulation, improve elasticity and balance sebum production.

Other key ingredients in EMK Placental products are less exotic but still good for skin including:  seabuckthorn, clinically proven anti-aging peptides, paper mulberry, shea butter, sea minerals, fatty acids, and Vitamins A, E and K. All of these are proven to be good for skin. The Wrinkle Relaxing Toner has all this good stuff, plus shitake and reishi mushroom (already known to help boost skin repair) .  But the point of the toner is to use it with other EMK Placental products to give skin a three-pronged (toner, serum, moisturizer) punch on a daily basis.  The toner helps to minimize pores, and is great under makeup.   EMK Placental claims that “daily use will diminish wrinkles, keep skin hydrated and ‘plump’, and regenerate skin’s collagen structure to restore youthful suppleness.” The claim is that all you need is one sweep of this remarkable toner to see smoother, more radiant, and younger looking skin that will also help deal with wrinkles and other signs of aging.

I have really, truly loved all the EMK Placental products I’ve tried in the past few years. Just Google “Advicesisters + EMK Placental” and you’ll see my rave reviews (and no, I did not get paid anything to gush).  But to me, a toner is still a toner and I have to be honest, I probably would not have purchased even the EMK Placental version if it wasn’t sent to me directly.  My personal experience with this toner is just that: my personal experience.  What works for me (or doesn’t work for me) may not be the same for your skin.  I gamely applied the EMK Placental Wrinkle Relaxing Toner to my skin to see what was instant, and what wasn’t. There was a bit of a tingle, and my skin felt like it was tightening a bit. So far, so good.

Alas, I would love to tell you that my wrinkles  (such as they are) disappeared or were diminished, but I honestly didn’t see  that.  What I did see was a smoother, softer,  more glowing (call it “radiant” if you wish) complexion.  My skin looked less blotchy and nice, even  without makeup.  With makeup, it looked even  better.  I could tell that the toner made  a difference in creating a smoother, better, healthier palette upon which to  apply additional skincare and makeup. Another plus is that it has virtually no scent (although the press literature  cites “natural geranium essential oil” as the fragrance).

For those who like to know more about how the EMK Wrinkle Relaxing Toner works, here is some information from the EMK Placental web site:

Bio-Identical Plant Placental Extract improves skin oxygenation and fosters ‘cell to cell’ communication to intensify anti-aging activity of all ingredients and assist in cell regeneration.

Shitake and Reishi ushroom extracts boost healthy collagen. Clinical tests demonstrate a 64% ncrease in Fibronectin, skin’s naturally occurring collagen ‘adhesive’ to epair skin’s collagen structure. Tests also show a 110% increase in skin’s key collagen producing enzyme.

Algae Extract and Sodium Hyaluronate protect skin from UV adiation and combat environmental aging while enhancing skin’s healthy moisture balance.

Natural Geranium essential oil has an uplifting aroma and helps boost skin circulation, improve elasticity and balance sebum production.

The Bottom Line: There isn’t a lot written about EMK Placental Wrinkle Relaxing Toner (0ther than EMK Placental-issued press, and a few genuine reviews, like this one), but I have to agree that there is good stuff  in the elegant, tapered, white plastic bottle (with round, clear plastic cap and gold accents). In my opinion, it’s a high tech toner and an impressively good one, but it is still a luxury item that many people will chose to do without if they’re on a budget and pricey skincare just isn’t in the cards.  That being said, I’d definitley splurge on some of the EMK Placental products, even if it meant bringing sandwiches from home for lunch, such as EMK Placental Supra Night Cream which just does a superb job.  If you have the funds, all the EMK Placental products can enhance your skin care routine. If you can afford it and you are convinced a toner can truly enhance your skincare routine, this Wrinkle Relaxing toner is a good choice.

I love, love, love EMK Toner. I am 77 years old, I am told by many that I do not look it. It does everything you say and more for me. It leaves my face looking firmer and more lifted. My skin feels like silk. I could go on and on about it . The bottom line is that it just plain works. Keep bringing it on.

A friend of mine has been using the firming eye gel for a week and I could not believe the difference it made. I honestly thought she had a Juvederm treatment. I’m ordering mine now!
