M.A.C. Cosmetics Introduces Mineralize Foundation SPF 15

Right now as I am typing this review, the snow is swirling around my window, reminding me that Winter is still very much alive. But one of the great, new products available right now from M.A.C. Cosmetics for Spring 2010, and in their permanent collection, is Mineralize Foundation SPF 15. The matte, black, mirrored compact that M.A,C, has made famous, is now a chubbier version with a bottom layer that holds an applicator sponge. "Upstairs" in the main compartment, is a solid, creamy, mineral foundation makeup with a liquid mineral infusion.

MAC Mineralize Foundation SPF 15 for Spring 2010

The foundation comes in a wide variety of tints--a whopping 23 different shades and tones. In fact, the one I received to try, #NW 25 appeared too dark. But of course, I had to try it because I am a reviewer. With some reservation, I smoothed on this semi-sheer, buildable product, But when I looked in the mirror I really got a surprise. Like many mineral tints, this one just melted into my skin, making it look smoother and more even without being obviously too dark, light or in-between. I looked like I was wearing a tinted moisturizer more than a foundation. I found that I could add more layers, however, making the product more opaque. I love the versatility!

There was another, happy, surprise. The product isn't just a foundation. It also protects and hydrated my Winter-dry skin without any heaviness. In fact, this product works so well, it was used backstage on the models for some of the runway shows last season as a testing ground.

The key is the Mineralize SPF 15 Foundation's innovative gel based system, providing a creamy application that works well with all sorts of skin, even dry skin. I won't go into the technical notes of how the product works, but all you need to know is that you will get long lasting wear (up to 8 hours) with immediate miniaturization AND at least a minimal daily UVB SPF protection. Your skin will feel hydrated and look more flawless, but you won't have any residual greasiness and the color won't rub off on your clothes. If your skin is sensitive, you'll be even happier to know that this foundation is non-acnegenic, fragrance-free, and dermatologist tested.

I like the blend-ability and creamin ess of liquid and cream foundations, but not the mess, That's why I love this solid compact even more! You get the benefits of a creamy foundation, but you can take it with you without toting a jar, or worrying about spills. To apply this foundation, simply smooth it on with the included sponge, or use a foundation brush. Don't be afraid to blend with your fingers, too.

The Mineralize Foundation SPF 15 is $32.00 U.S. / $38.00 CDN -
