Backstage Beauty-Nifty Nails at Twinkle Fall 2010

The vision for the Twinkle Fall 2010 runway show was a fairytale featuring Hansel & Gretel as they make their way through the forest, with a color palette that "Careens from mossy, dampy woodlands, to the city's uncaged neon lights. Mystic screams mustrard yellow with mauve, olive green with royal blue. Chantelle buds with deeply inky blue and royally pulsating purple. Fermented gold prowls in Edgeglade. Black find a new romance with nude in Nostlgia, cream in Birchfeather, snow in Nocturne, and vanilla in Hansel and Gretel.





Fanciful, "playful" clothes with this much variety and a color palette so varied, call for simple nails, hair and makeup.




This is a Fall Collection, so for the nails, trendy, matte, dark and luxe was the vision for Creative Nail Design. Roxanne Valinoti, the lead nail stylist for Twinkle, coated press-on nails with Creative Nail Design's "Dark Ruby," and then added a top coat of Creative Nail Designs Super Matte (Effect) Top Coat . The results was a deep nail that looked almost black, almost ruby, or more deep plum, depending upon the light..




These are the press on nails use for the Twsinkle show. They're shaped to the models' fingers, and filed down to a slightly rounded tip. Here are the nails, ready to press onto the model's fingers! You can re-create this look easily at home, using your own nails, or painting press-ons.

I also got a quick look at John Ruidant for Redken's, pretty bun ( a "twisty" chignon that played up the natural textures of the hair, not completely smooth so there's texture "like she has been running around in the woods from the witch). Gianpaolo Ceciliato for M.A.C. Cosmetics created a dramatic, smoky, eye makeup look.


Roxanne poses with Anna Nelson, the nail tech that won Creative Nail Design's contest- a trip to fashion week. A nice surprise for this lucky winner. I was please to meet her.
*update 2/17/10 I later saw Anna again backstage, this time, helping with the nails at The Blonds where her winning designs were on the runway! *see that post in a few days and I'll update this, again with a link.
