Iman's Global Chic Collection is a Real Find

Global Chic: that's what supermodel/entrepreneur IMAN calls her exceptional, and affordable, line of accessories and fashion items. I was excited to meet IMAN in person (yes, she is gorgeous) and quickly realized that this savvy entrepreneur has a huge (and growing) hit on her hands, with her her Global Chic collection for the Home Shopping Network.

Iman has traveled far and wide, both as a model, and also as the wife of rock star David Bowie. Both of their names are synonynous with fashion and style. Iman admitted that she loves jewelry and likes to collect beautiful things from around the world. What might have started as a hobby, is now the mainstay of her business. Many if not most of the items in the collection you see above are copies (or inspired by) items Iman personally owns, including pieces given to her by Bowie.

Although she's a business woman as well as a wife and mother, Iman is still a model, and knows how to show off her Global Chic Doctor Satchel ($99.95). But every woman would look good with one of these bags on her arm, too! If you doubth this, consider that forty thousand were sold in just one day, on HSN! There are quite a few totes and handbags, plus a rolling travel bag set (Jet....Set....Go!: Luxury Duffle Roller Luggage $109.95) that comes in a royal plum. I really, really wish I had this one for myself!

But wait! I can get one...and so can you! With few exceptions, most of the Iman Global Chic accessories being sold on the Home Shopping Network are around, or under, $100.00. Some of the pieces are less than $30.00!

That doesn't mean the items are cheap looking. The quality is evident. When I examined Iman's collection of jewelry, shoes, leggings and handbags up close and personal I realized that they are beautifully finished. There's nothing shoddy or cheap about them. The jeweler's metal she uses is smooth and completely finished, inside and out. Pieces are substantial, and rich looking. Some of the items are interchangeable, such as earrings with several different hoops and a "drop" that lets you go from day to evening, easily. The stones Iman uses, although they are faux, are beautiful and realistic. The handbags and shoes are of the same, high quality you would expect to find in a high-end boutique, but Iman's Global Chic Collection is affordable and accessible to everyone.

Iman told me that she knows women have choices, and if you're selling something, especially on the air on the Home Shopping Network, it has to be even better in person than on television. She knows that women are savvy shoppers, and if they don't like something, they will send it back. That's what you don't want. Iman obviously knows about fashion, but she also knows what works and what doesn't. Her designs are made to make life easier, more fun, and more chic for women, everywhere. The collection won't disappoint her fans. In fact, I and the other reporters who were in the room were ooohing and ahhing over the pieces, picking them up and trying them on, over and over again. I'd be willing to bet that few items from the IMAN Global Chic collection are sent back. In fact, IMAN told her that when she is on the air in person on HSN, many people call and tell her they've come back to re-order a favorite piece in another color. She also amusedly told us that one woman called and said her husband had just bought her a handbag, but she was in the bedroom, ordering one on her own!

As a beauty and fashion reviewer, I get a chance to see a lot of jewelry and accessories, but Iman's Global Chic Collection was incredibly impressive for it's beauty, affordability, quality, and value. Just one piece will spiff up your outfit -- even if it's last years'.
