Sarah Jessica Parker-The Lovely Collection

Sarah Jessica Parker has been genuinely involved in the fragrances she has created for Coty Prestige, including Lovely and Covet.

Now SJP has a trio of tempting fragrances based on lovely moments: Dawn, Endless and Twilight . There's an Eau de Parfum Spray $58.00 2.5 fl. oz and $38.00 1 fl. oz and a Soft Body Lotion $28.00. The Lovely Collection bottles are clear, polished glass, with rounded edges. Each has a watery floral design stencil on the front, by New York artist and fashion illustrator Sara Singh (with Sarah Jessica Parker and Jon DiNapoli). The caps are vintage-y, ribbed balls of clear plastic (the same one appears on SJP's first scent, LOVELY). Each scent and each of the bottles have a color theme appropriate to the fragrance: blue, violet and white for Dawn; pink, violet and burgundy for Endless; and Champagne/gold for Twilight. The outer cartons look gift-able as-is.

Dawn has a clear, delicate, blue juice that tints the clear, square bottle (with round, ribbed, ball cap) in a calm, lovely way. The scent, by Givaudan perfumer Stephen Nilsen, is light and fresh...you need to be close to really smell it. Top notes are citrus cocktail, violet leaves, and angelica, with a heart of an exotic bouquet of orchids (they're definitely floral, but not overly sweet). The drydown is a bit more lasting and sensual: tahitian vanilla, vetiver, translucent musks, oakmoss and one of my favorite notes: orris (actually, the root of some species of iris, grown principally in southern Europe). Like the dawn of a new day, it starts slowly, and builds. Your body chemistry will make it your very own.

Endless was created by Givaudan’s Yann Vasnier. If the pink tinting didn't give it away, you'd know at first sniff that is is classified as a sparkling floral--definitely the most romantic and feminine of the three scents. It starts out assertive, but quickly mellows into a pretty, modern floral that gets a kick of fruit from top notes of pineapple, apple, plum and ivy leaves. The heart is an all floral medly of peony, pink jasmine, and magnolia that works well with the top notes. A very well balanced scent, bottom notes of oakmoss, Indonesian Patchouli, Australian sandalwood, vetiver, and suede musks, make it sophisticated, and lasting.

Twilight is the direct opposite of Dawn. It's spicy and oriental and it announces itself, immediately.. I love that in a scent. This one by IFF Perfumers Laurent Le Guernec & Clement Cavarry bursts onto your skin with a juice that is a light, warm champagne gold. There are top notes of sparkling bergamot, galbanum (aromatic gum resin from certain Persian plant species), mandarin and pink pepper, but the fragrance softens in the heart to florals of lush peony and jasmine, while exotic amber, incense, sandalwood, and musk turn up the sex appeal at the bottom. The scent lingers on your skin, not cloyingly, but just right. I don't know how much Sarah Jessica Parker influenced Twilight, but I'm guessing this is Sassy Sarah's favorite of the trio. It is mine, as well.

These fragrances launched in March and April, but they're perfect for now through Summer (and beyond). The trio would make a romantic gift for a bride-to-be, or just one is a wonderful gift for your weekend hostess, too.
