While you're smoothing, curling, stretching and shaping, you have just one hand to make it right, since the other hand has to helplessly hold the hair dryer. If you're like a lot of people, after you've held your blow-dryer up long enough, finishing up before your achy arm gives out is more important than getting the finishing touches on your hair, done.






Blo & Go *$29.95 by Holster, Inc. is one of those "little things" that once you've tried it, you'll never want to be without it. This "as seen on TV" item is clever, and it can actually make a huge difference in how your hair looks, even though you never apply it to your hair.





Blo & Go is a hair dryer holder--a metal ring with a bungee cord attached to a long, goose necked metal "arm," attached to a powerful suction cup. Apply it to your mirror and it holds the dryer at any angle so you have two, free hands to style your hair. You run your dryer through the ring, secure it with the cord, and you can choose to move your head, or the goose-necked arm into any position you want as you're drying your hair. It's particularly good for the back of your hair, where it's really hard to reach with the dryer properly positioned.





My first impression was bewilderment--what did I need a goose necked metal contraption with a huge suction cup? And I was worried about the suction cup--would it fall off my mirror taking the dryer with it? The Blo and go isn't seriously heavy, but with a dryer on it, it would take a seriously strong suction to keep all that weight, aloft. Luckily, the "pressure grip-lock" suction cup on the Blo and Go is seriously strong, "locked" into place with a lever. Once applied to a mirror, you'd have to practically jump on it to pull it down, but it takes just a second to pull up the lever and release the grip. You can also place the suction cup on other dry, flat surfaces but it works best with mirrors, windows, and smooth counter tops.

I admit it, I thought this ungainly looking Blo and Go device as a clever gadget, but one that I'd never need. Still, I was intrigued with the idea that I could actually luxuriate in a real blow-dry session without an achy arm or a lot of frustration as I tried to get the dyer and the brush and my hair aligned just right. Once I tried a hand-free blow drying session I was totally hooked. Without one hand lost to the dryer, my blow-out was smoother and faster, and honestly, it was great not to have to hold my arm up like the Statue of Liberty to get my hair dry!

The only downside, if there really is one, is that Blo & Go doesn't fold up, so you've got to have some place to stow it when it's not being used, but it's a minor problem since you'll probably keep it in use day after day!
